Magnetic Sculptures

By combining various shapes of magnets and chrome
steel balls, a number of interesting geomentric shapes are easily
constructed. One of the easiest and most interesting is the icosahedral.
The icosahedral is a twenty sided ball made of triangles. This shape is
inherently stable and withstands significant pressure on any side.
The only necessary materials for constructing this
shape are some rod shaped magnets and some steel balls.

The primary foundation is a magnetic rod with
steel balls on each end. By adding two more magnets rods and one steel
ball, a triangle is easily formed.

This can easily be expanded to form the
icosahedral below.
